The Hazara line is named after the ethnic group who weaves these rugs for us. The Hazara are a Shia people who lived for centuries in the central mountainous regions of Afghanistan. In recent years they have come to Pakistan as refugees in great numbers due to their enmity with the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan. Now with end of the Taliban rule in Afghanistan many of the Hazara have returned to their homes in the central part of Afghanistan and in Kabul.

The Hazara weavers produce a very finely woven supple carpet with a symmetrical or Turkish knot. This knot with the fine supple weave gives these carpets very much the look and the handle of the old Caucasian or Turkmen Carpets. Most of the carpets which we produce with Hazara weavers come from one of these two weaving traditions. Our Hazara carpets are divided into two groupings. Those with Caucasian, Anatolian, Persian tribal and other similar designs we call Hazara Kafkasi. Those with Turkmen design, primarily Tekke and Yamud, we call Hazara Turkestan. The wool, hand carded and handspun yarn and vegetable dyes used in these carpets and all the same as we employ for the Aryana line, thus for information on wool and dyeing you may refer to Aryana.
