info about Larhabi Sumak
These flat woven carpets take their names from the Larhabi people from Baghlan province in northern Afghanistan who produce them. They are flat woven rather than pile rugs, however the weft wrap sumak style of weaving gives them a tight, sturdy texture and crisp definition that produces a look unlike any other type of carpets and kilims. Many of these are woven using the Larhabi tribes’ traditional“charchirak” design, while some have Caucasian sumak designs and still others have new innovations.
